Jerry CookAs we all know, the year 2021 and 2022 has been tough for everyone. So many events were either canceled or postponed due to the pandemic. The Pokemon Go fest 2023 was held but didn’t create any hype at all.
This year’s finale event took place in the summer of 2023. To coincide with the fifth anniversary of the mobile game, The Pokémon Company announced that GO Fest 2023 was the "biggest and best" event yet.
Taking place over a weekend in late July, the event provided the Trainer the chance to catch rare and powerful Pokémon, as well as take part in challenges and activities. Tickets went on sale in early 2023

Part 1: What's the Pokémon Go Fest 2023 Finale Event?
The Pokémon Company has announced that the Pokémon GO Fest 2023 Finale event will take place in Sapporo, Japan. The event coincided with the 25th anniversary of releasing the first Pokémon games and was held on 27 August.
Players around the world could join this event virtually through the Pokemon Go app. Trainers who attended the event were able to capture rare Pokémon, participate in special challenges, and more.
Part 2: What Kinds of Activities Running on Pokémon GO Fest 2023 Finale Event？
The Pokémon GO Fest 2023 event was exclusive to those who have completed their collection of all current Pokémon. This means that catching "shiny" or rare Pokémon will not be possible at this event. The rewards for this event were experience, items, and new Legendary Pokémon.
In order to receive these rewards, attendees must participate in various activities throughout the day. These activities included catching Pokémon, winning battles, and more. The finale event also featured a special appearance by Ash Ketchum himself. Those who attended this event could take home a piece of history as the last ever Pokémon Go Fest event.
Part 3: What's the Special Research for Pokémon GO Fest 2023
One of the most anticipated features of Pokémon GO Fest 2023 is the Special Research that they were available to Trainers during the event. Special Research tasks have often been tied to specific in-game events, such as Pokémon GO Safari Zone or Legendary raids. Given the success of these events, it is likely that the Special Research for Pokémon GO Fest 2023 was similarly themed.
Whatever the case may be, trainers were assured that completing the Special Research tasks would reward experience. This year's Special Research focused on skill and execution rather than depending on random chance. The Research page was divided into three tabs: Field, Special, and Today.
- The Field tab included Field Research tasks and Research Breakthrough stamp progress.
- The Special tab included ongoing Special Research campaigns and a list of completed ones.
- The Today View tab included Timed Research campaigns, bonuses for current events, daily PokéCoins, and Daily Bonuses progress.
Niantic has also announced that the initial research breakthrough stamp progress section will be available to all players.
Part 4: What's the Difference between the Free-to-Play and Ticketed Versions of the Event?
When it comes to events, there are typically two options to join the Pokémon GO Fest 2023: free-to-play or ticketed. Each option has its own set of benefits and drawbacks, so it's important to choose the right one for your event.
4.1: Free-to-Play
- First and foremost, only ticketed players had access to the exclusive rewards available at this year's event. These rewards include things like special Pikachu variants, Sinnoh Stone evolution items, and more.
- In addition, ticketed players also had access to a special "lucky draw" where they could win even more rare and valuable prizes. Finally, those with tickets will also get an exclusive in-game badge to show off their status as a Pokemon GO Fest 2018 attendee.
4.2 Exclusive to Ticket Holders
- For those not interested in spending money on a ticket, there was still plenty to do at this year's free-to-play Pokemon GO Fest. Several themed challenges were available for players to participate in, with rewards they could earn by completing them.
- So whether the trainers were spending money on tickets or on, the ultimate fun, experience, and Pokemon attended was assured.
Part 5: How Much Does the Pokémon Go Fest 2023 Finale Event Cost?
The tickets for the exclusive entry of the Pokemon Go fest 2023 Finale event cost around $10.99. They could be only purchased from the in-game shop. However, the tickets couldn’t be purchased with in-game coins such as Pokecoins. One had to invest real money to get exclusive rewards in the final event. Moreover, the tickets to the events are non-refundable.
Luckily, if you had purchased the ticket for the previous year’s event, Niantic offered you something really special. You could have an exclusive entry in the Pokemon Go fest 2023 Finale event free of cost.
Part 6: How to Play Pokémon Go without Walking on the Fest 2023 Finale Event
Since the Pokémon GO Fest 2023, the Finale event will take place in Sapporo, Japan. You’ll need to fly to Japan in order to attend it. However, if you don’t want to attend it physically, you can enjoy it virtually without any leg work.

Yes, you read it right; millions of players joined the event from around the globe and took the event by storm. That's a lot of Pokémon! In addition to catching Pokémon, players also participated in special challenges, such as defeating magnetic fluxes at PokéStops and defeating giant Team Rocket balloons.
